This northern-based beauty business is a wonderful story of a lady who downsized her successful salon to work for herself & achieve a better work-life balance.
For someone like me who is an organisation freak Pocket PA ticks all the right boxes! It is super easy to use, tracks all my appointments, income and spending, making my tax return a breeze.
I started my business whilst still training at college. I have always been an independent person so it just seemed a natural fit for me to become self-employed.
I started just one day a week (my day off from college) in a room I rented above a sunbed shop. When I finished my training I took the plunge and went full time, and the business grew from there.
By the age of 21, I had my own premises and had taken on my first employee. I continued to grow the business and gain several more employees for 14 years. Until I made the decision to downsize it to gain a better work/life balance.
This is the best decision I have made! I now have a home-based salon that my clients love and have gained the better balance I myself was looking for.
Refusing to let Lockdown2020 get the better of me, I decided to focus on upskilling and undergo training I had promised myself I would do but never previously had the time. This led to me starting my journey with Pocket PA!
I am now a qualified Industry Educator and have added new treatments to my skill set. I am still (all these years later) extremely passionate about my industry and Love my job!!
I would love to be working as an educator for one of the leading brands in the industry, offering quality education for up and coming nail techs and helping current nail techs hone their skills to provide to quality treatments for their clients.
